The places that help me procrastinate…

I thought it might be fun to share with you all the places that I love to visit online and the people that I love to listen too. Obviously, I am fickle and this list changes quite often, but I do have some favs which I think (hope) you’ll enjoy as much as I do.

Social Media/Podcasts

Knee Deep in Life – this is one of my all time favourite Instagram and Facebook accounts. Laura is wonderfully and refreshingly honest about life, love and children – this is a warts and all account. Her stories are an absolute must for everyone. I warn you – it is addictive viewing! There is swearing but this makes it even better as far as I am concerned. Follow her HERE

No Holes Barred (Podcast) – this is a team effort with Laura (Knee Deep in Life) and Victoria Emes. This is a 40 minute podcast of real life stories where nothing is off limits and everything is discussed – all those things you were embarrased about, yeah, you’re not alone and this is one for you. It goes out each Tuesday and you can follow and subscribe HERE

David Hayward (The Naked Pastor)- “After 30 years in the church, he left the ministry to pursue his passion for art. NakedPastor uses words and images to challenge the status quo, deconstruct dogma, and offer hope for those who struggle and suffer under it. His art expresses the stories and struggles of spiritual refugees and independent thinkers who question, doubt or oppose the confines of religion. Each piece encourages difficult conversations and acts as a catalyst for critical thinking.

I love Davids art work which really speaks to the reality of religion in its organised structures. As someone very much ‘in the church’, this in your face artwork is refreshing and I am proud to be able to use this in my ministry, to start conversations. I thoroughly recommend you follow him on social media – you will find him on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pintrest and his website www.nakedpastorstore.com.

Nadia Bolz-Weber – I was fortunate to see Nadia at Southwark Cathedral in 2019 on the tour for her book SHAMELESS; A Sexual Reformation. She is inspirational and brings a freshness and a candor to the things of life that we are conditioned to think and feel, turns it on its head and makes you rethink who you are, as a human and child of God. Go, google her, listen to her and be inspired to love yourself! You can also find her at www.nadiabolzweber.com.

Nadia is an ordained Lutheran Pastor, founder of House for All Sinners & Saints in Denver, Co, the creator and host of The Confessional and  the author of three NYT bestselling memoirs: Pastrix; The Cranky, Beautiful Faith Of A Sinner & Saint (2013), Accidental Saints; Finding God In All The Wrong People (2015) and SHAMELESS; A Sexual Reformation (2019). She writes and speaks about personal failings, recovery, grace, faith, and really whatever the hell else she wants to. She always sits in the corner with the other weirdoes.

“God, please help me not be an asshole, is about as common a prayer as I pray in my life.” (Nadia Bolz-Weber)

Nadia’s podcast, The Confessions is a wonderful eclectic mix of people, chat and things to think about and just a general wash for the soul.

Danny Robbins is a brilliant poscaster and his series on true case hauntings and paranormal shinanigans is brilliant. You can find the latest series on Spotify (and I am sure other podcast platforms). I first listened to The Battersea Poltergeist on the recommendation of a friend, and loved it. The Witch Farm is was the most recent offering about a haunted farm house, Heol Fanog, in the depths of Wales bubbed the Welsh Amityville.

From ghostly phantoms to UFOs, The Battersea Poltergeist’s Danny Robins investigates real-life stories of paranormal encounters.

A paranormal cold case re-investigated through a thrilling blend of drama and documentary. The true story of one of Britain’s strangest hauntings, with Dafne Keen and Toby Jones.
